My Grandfather's Car
|
|
I would be grateful for any information you may have to identify the make/model/year of the car shown in the photo link below.
Welcome to AF!
I fixed the post to show the address for the pic. The way it was formatted wasn't showing anything under your text in that post.
This is a really tough one. It's pretty clear it is pre WW1 car, probably 1910-1915, and is likely a less-expensive model, due to a short hood. More expensive cars of the time usually had larger engines and thus longer hoods.
However, back then, there were many dozens of auto makers, the vast majority of them never made too many cars and often, few examples survive today.
Also, many of the lower-priced cars looked virtually the same, there are few distinguishing features of this particular car that set it apart from others.
EMF is just a best-guess. At the time, it was a high- volume (top 5) car maker whose appearance is consistent with your picture. Other high volume car makers of the time, such as Ford, Packard, Buick, Oldsmobile and Cadillac are definitely different from your photo.
Thank you very much for the helpout!
Thanks '97ventureowner and magicrat! This is great information. My Dad will be very happy to know what his grandfather's car probably was.
Happy Holidays!
